ORLANDO (FBW) – After a four-year effort and overcoming numerous obstacles, supporters of traditional marriage were able to convince 62 percent of Floridians to amend their state constitution with a measure upholding the traditional definition of marriage.

SENATE CHAMBER PRAYER

TALLAHASSEE (FBW) – Florida Senate President James E. “Jim” King (R-Jacksonville) apologized to members of the legislative body April 28 after Florida Baptist pastor Clayton Cloer invoked the name of Jesus in his prayer in the Senate chamber as guest chaplain of the day. King’s comments resulted in media coverage of the incident across the state, while the pastor of First Baptist Church of Central Florida in Orlando insisted that his prayer was consistent with guidelines given to guest chaplains.

THE CROSS

ORLANDO (FBW) – The motto of First Baptist Church in Central Florida is “where the Cross in central.” Though the phrase was used only figuratively in the past, a stately cross now—visible for miles—literally stands in the center of the church’s Orlando property.
“When our members invite people to church, they can say, ‘Meet me at the cross,’” said Clayton Cloer, the church’s, senior pastor. “It is made to draw people in.”.
